Like many other municipalities in the area, Chatsworth is enjoying somewhat of a building boom this year.
Chatsworth council received an update from the township’s building department at its Aug. 4 meeting showing second quarter numbers for the period from April to June.
The report by Chatsworth’s Chief Building Official Karl Schipprack says the second quarter of 2021 saw permit numbers increase by 63 per cent, project values jump by 62 per cent and collected permit fees rise more than 45 per cent compared to the same period in 2020.
“This trend has continued over the first part of Q3 and all outlooks show this growth will continue for the remainder of 2021,” Schipprack’s report explains.
Total construction values for Chatsworth for the first six months of 2021 are more than $12.9-million, up from just over $8-million for the period of January to June 2020.
The township issued 93 building permits through the end of June 2021 and collected more than $88,000 in permit fees.
