Talk to any motorist and they’ll most likely tell you, trying to get onto Highway 21 from McNabb Street can be a real pain.
Vice Deputy Mayor Mike Myatt says now with the Southampton Landing housing development underway in the area, there could be more of a traffic bottleneck in the future.
Town staff have already checked with MTO about a traffic light at the intersection, near the beer store, but the province says future numbers do not warrant a light.
Director of Infrastructure and Development Amanda Froese says the MTO suggested a roundabout option at the intersection, which would still need MTO approval but could be an easier path to follow.
Froese says the roundabout is one of the projects in her 2022 budget proposal.
No cost factor yet but apparently it would be cheaper than installing traffic lights.
Alvanley has a roundabout at Highways 21 and 6 and the Grey Bruce Townline.
