The City of Owen Sound is advising residents part of 9th Avenue East will be closed starting this week for infrastructure work.
A release notes, starting on Sept. 21, 9th Avenue East will be closed to traffic from 20th Street East to 23rd Street East, for watermain upgrades, new sanitary sewer construction, new storm sewer construction, and road reconstruction. The work is being performed to accommodate new residential redevelopment in the area.
While the work is occurring, traffic will be routed from 9th Avenue East and 20th Street East to 8th Avenue East, circling back to 9th Avenue East at 23rd Street East.
Be advised, pedestrian traffic will still be allowed, although some minor interruptions may occur.
Local transit will also be adjusting, as 9th Avenue East and 23rd Street East will be re-routed to 8th Avenue East, then back to 9th Avenue East on 20th Street East.
The stop north of 9th Avenue East and 20th Street East will not be running at this time.
The work is expected to be finished by the end of November.
