The City of Owen Sound is advising residents the Leaf and Yard Waste Composting Facility is going to have its hours adjusted Friday and parts of next week for cleanup work at the site.
On Friday Oct. 1 — and again from Oct. 5-7 — the facility on 28th Avenue East will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for cleanup, waste removal and wood grinding to improve the safety and access at the site.
On these days, the facility will be only open limited hours, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The operating hours on Saturday, Oct. 2 and Sunday, Oct. 3 are not impacted.
When the facility fully reopens late next week, free mulch will be available for residents of Owen Sound. The city advises residents must bring their own shovels to load up their vehicles with it.
The items accepted at the facility include, leaves, grass clippings, houseplants, garden plants, sod, brush, clean stumps, logs and firewood, and branches.
