Both the City of Owen Sound and Municipality of Meaford are announcing closures and reopenings for the Thanksgiving weekend.
In Owen Sound for Oct. 11, a release notes, the Leaf and Yard Waste Composting Facility will be closed, and is set to reopen on Oct. 12 at 8:30 a.m.
Local transit in the city will also be taking a break for the holiday, with the transit terminal closing for Thanksgiving. Normal transit hours and service will return on Oct. 12.
Residents are also being advised the Owen Sound City Hall will be closed as well for Thanksgiving, and will reopen the next day at 8:30 a.m.
In Meaford, Sykes Street North between Collingwood Street and Lombard Street will be open during the weekend to vehicle traffic, but will close again on Oct. 12 at 7 a.m. as construction continues.
A notice from the municipality says while the road will be open to vehicular traffic, the sidewalks will stay closed due to the construction to install new concrete walkways.
The Sykes Street North Reconstruction project began in June and is scheduled to be completed by the end of this month.
