The Municipality of Meaford is looking to update its official plan and residential input is being sought.
A survey is now live for people to share their ideas which will be used to help inform the municipality of the needs of the community as well as help develop and grow.
The community consultation process for the plan review will occur between now and June and will use a variety of meeting formats to include a diverse amount of people who make up the community.
The official plan is a document describing Meaford council policies and how land in the community should be used. It considers a range of new development and growth for the community while reflecting local needs and values. Housing, employment, agriculture, industrial and commercial uses are among some of the issues addressed in the official plan.
Meaford Director of Development Services Rob Voight says, “Meaford’s official plan guides us in managing new growth and change so that the specific needs of our community are met, and it helps direct us in the important work of being stewards of a vibrant and healthy community.”
Further details of residential participation dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
“Hearing from our local citizens on what matters to them when building a healthy and successful community is primary to this update and we will be connecting in creative ways to generate meaningful discussion,” says Voight.
The survey takes about 20 minutes and can be completed by visiting the Meaford website.
