A Eugenia man has won over $100,000 in the lottery.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation says in a release, Kevin Kirkpatrick won the Lightning Lotto jackpot on January 1st.
The top prize had grown to $157,306 before it was won.
Kirkpatrick is a 60-year-old retiree who is a regular lottery player, but only plays Lightning Lotto occasionally.
He says in a statement, “It was New Year’s Day when I decided to play Lightning Lotto when I stopped for gas,” adding, “I didn’t have much to say for a few minutes – I was shell-shocked!”
Kirkpatrick says, “I’m the happiest guy in the world right now! This is spectacular,” adding he has some great plans for his future, “More golfing, more fishing, more travelling,” saying, “I think my first stop will be British Columbia with family.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Colpepper’s Limited on Collingwood Street in Flesherton.
