Mask mandates for local public transit services are lifting.
The City of Owen Sound says as the province is lifting its mandates requiring masks to be worn while using transit services, this also includes Owen Sound Transit and Guelph Owen Sound Transportation (GOST).
The mandates lifted as of 12:00 a.m. June 11.
These mandates were previously set to expire April 27 but were extended by Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore to June 11, for certain healthcare settings and public transit due to the sixth wave of the pandemic.
The city says it appreciates riders of Owen Sound Transit and GOST for wearing their masks throughout the Covid pandemic.
Riders who wish to continue wearing their masks are free to do so.
