The town of Saugeen Shores is going to start looking for someone to help with building and zoning permits.
During Monday’s council meeting, CAO Kara Van Myall made a presentation to the mayor and council on the proposal to move forward with hiring a Zoning Coordinator.
According to Van Myall, the new position would be “responsible for reviewing all building applications for zoning compliance, and supporting inquiries regarding zoning-related matters, and work closely with the Planning Division to help organize the development files and fees and maintain the Town’s Zoning By-law.”
She says that creating this position is necessary, just because of the high volume of building and zoning permit applications the municipality receives, and it would run more smoothly with someone to help.
“It really is around that customer service piece and helping people find their way into that cloud permit or online virtual world because of the complexity of the regulations that we work in.”
The salary for the new position would be funded from the money taken in by the town from building permits.
