Statistics Canada is showing that the unemployment rate fell to a new record low of 4.9 percent in June.
This comes despite the Canadian economy losing 43,000 jobs last month, which was also the first decline since January.
Self-employment dropped by 59,000 jobs, while the number of employees in both the public and the private sectors held steady.
There was also an increase in hourly wages, which rose by 5.2 percent.
The unemployment rate for the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula Economic Region increased 0.4 percentage points to 4%.
Overall, net employment in the region increased by 2,700 jobs.
