Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce is looking for volunteers as they build seven houses in Saugeen First Nation.
The organization’s resource manager John McLachlan says seven builds are underway near Southampton and they are looking for people to help out.
“Anybody that is interested in volunteering with habitat, we welcome them to come out. We are also inviting teams, like companies and all of this kind of stuff. We have booked about 20 of those and that helps a lot because they bring about 20 people so you can get a lot of work done,” says McLachlan. “But individuals can also volunteer.”
McLachlan adds they often have high school students participate as a way to get the volunteer hours they need to graduate.
“They often learn something because they are going to be doing something that they wouldn’t probably do like maybe even building a roof,” says McLachlan.
