The Saugeen Shores Lamont Sports Park fundraising campaign is receiving $75,000 after recently reaching it $1 million mark.
The town says this anonymous donation was made in the name of former Reeve Harry Thede who passed in 2019. This donation completes the naming of all of the park’s nine elements, as one of the future youth fastball diamonds to be named “The Harry Thede Field.”
This follows a previous combined $100,000 donation, bringing to campaign to $1 million.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau says they are deeply grateful for this generous contribution.
“Harry Thede was a well-respected Reeve, as well as Warden of Bruce County. It is fitting that his mane is memorialized at this world-class facility,” says Charbonneau.
The campaign is currently looking to raise $50,000 for two batting cages and a storage facility for minor baseball.
Those interested in donating to the campaign can visit the Town of Saugeen Shore website here.
Phase one of the park is set to open in May 2023.
