Fans of The Amazing Race Canada will see some familiar sights in Tuesday’s episode.
The show, where contestants race to various locations across the country in order to win prize money, made stops in Wiarton, Tobermory, Meaford, and Georgian Bluffs.
When asked about parts of Bruce and Grey Counties being the backdrop for the Amazing Race, South Bruce Peninsula mayor Janice Jackson said something like it, “…Doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, it’s pretty exciting. And I think having that kind of exposure for the Bruce Peninsula and Wiarton is fantastic.”
One stop in the current season’s Race was to Lloyd’s Smoke Shop and Pool Hall in Wiarton, before traveling up to Tobermory, and then moving on to Meaford and Georgian Bluffs.
Jackson said that they knew that CTV was in the area to film back in May, and the production was kept very tightly under wraps.
She says that she’s happy to see the region as a backdrop, adding, “The Bruce Peninsula is not really a secret anymore, and more and more Canadians are discovering the beauty of the peninsula. So having a national television show like this featuring the peninsula is going to boost tourism, and that’s a good thing.”
The episode is titled “Is That a Wild Peacock?”
