Residents looking to sit on the River District Board of Management have this last week to register.
The 2022 election is set for Nov. 14 and interested candidates running for the seven offices of the board must file a nomination with the River District Election Manager.
Nominations will be accepted until Oct. 6 by scheduling an appointment with the election manager and on Oct. 7 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at city hall in Owen Sound.
The district is part of the downtown revitalization that began in 2019 that made key infrastructure upgrades, including the building of the farmers’ market pavilion. The river district has four phases planned for the revitalization of the riverbank, and are scheduled for completion in fall of 2026.
Nomination forms are available at city hall or on the election website here, and must be submitted in person by the candidate or their agent.
If a greater number of candidates are certified than needed to fill the seven offices, an election will be held using paper ballot. Members will be able to cast their ballot in person at city hall on Nov. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
An advanced voting day will also be held at city hall on Nov. 12 from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
