Bruce County is offering tips for recreational hunters to enjoy deer season in a safe manner.
The county says long gun season for deer hunting is from Nov. 7 to Nov. 13. Everyone using county forests must ensure they are visible and aware of possibly others nearby.
Trail users are advised to avoid using trails from dawn and dusk, as well as anytime when visibility is limited. It’s also suggested to wear hunter orange coloured attire and avoid beige, brown, white, or green clothes, while also dressing your pets in orange as well as keeping them on a leash.
Hunters are advised to avoid hunting along trails and in areas with active trail use, while also being aware they may be sharing the forest with other hunters and trail users.
The county says hunters must never shoot unless they are sure of their target and what’s beyond it.
