West Grey Police say officers have taken a Southgate woman into custody in connection with an attempted murder investigation in West Grey.
Police say on Jan. 19, members of the Uniform and Criminal Investigations Branch of West Grey Police began an investigation after allegations surfaced of a female suspect had intentionally poisoned another person with the intent to cause death.
Police add on Jan. 20, a search warrant was obtained and executed in relation to the investigation.
Police say as a result, the 56-year-old accused was arrested and charged with attempt to commit murder and administering a noxious substance.
Police say the accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
Police add investigators believe this to be a targeted incident and there is no direct threat to public safety.
