Hanover police say they are investigating a suspicious vehicle driven by an older man who they say appeared to be taking photos of children in the backyard of a residence late Thursday afternoon in the area of 14th St & 9th Avenue. Police say the man is reported to have taken the photos, then circled around the block, stopping a second and third time and taking more photos before leaving the area. During this incident, the older male did not have any communication with the children.
The vehicle, a dark coloured SUV, may be a Volkswagen Tiguan.
Hanover police say in a social media post they received another report involving an older man stopping and giving “Pot of Gold” chocolates to another child Wednesday afternoon. The man indicated the child was to give the chocolates to their mom. Police investigators are trying to determine if the two incidents are linked.
Hanover Police Chief Christopher Knoll says parents are asked to remind their children about street safety and talking to strangers.
Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact Hanover police or Crime Stoppers.
