Grey Highlands council is securing granular road materials for maintenance and road improvements throughout the year.
During a meeting on March 15, council received a report from Transportation and Public Spaces Coordinator Holly Cullihall. It recommended awarding the contract for purchasing the needed granular material to Walker Aggregates for $441,473, and to Seeley and Arnill Construction for $657,511.
The report says the tender includes the quantities of granular material for the supply and delivery of spring maintenance gravel, road structure improvements and yard stockpile, which is used for road repairs.
Previously staff have picked up the material directly from area pits to replenish its stockpiles, and at times have it delivered.
The work is scheduled to take place in Artemesia, Euphrasia and Osprey.
