Saugeen Shores council is going to consider approving the $335,000 purchase of a new wheel loader.
During a meeting set for April 24, council will receive a report from Director of Community Services and Operations Kristan Shrider, recommending approving the purchase from Wajax Equipment.
The report says as part of the 2023 capital budget, council allocated funds towards the purchase of a wheel loader for its public works division.
A number of tenders were received after the request for proposal was issued Jan. 24, with Wajax being the cheapest.
“The unit will be primarily located outside of the Concession 6 shop. It will be used for downtown snow removal in the winter and allow greater flexibility for general use at the gravel pits, years, compost site, and winter sand loading/stockpiling during the remainder of the year,” says the report.
The report adds as how only $300,000 was included in the capital budget from development charges, it is recommended using funds from other sources to cover the shortfall.
Council will be considering this item during its meeting on April 24 at 6:35 p.m.
