Meaford is looking at setting up signs to notify people of upcoming events.
Coun. Rob Uhrig brought a motion to council during a meeting on Nov. 27, asking for staff to look at costs associated with setting up signage on Highway 26 on the north and south ends of the urban area of Meaford.
His motion says it would be easier to update road signage rather than overhead banners to promote community events and activities, similar to what is done in Collingwood.
“When you look at the actual signs that exist on both sides of Collingwood, they are actually not even lit I do not believe,” says Uhrig.
He adds he wants to avoid electronic signage so as to not rely on power.
“Hopefully we can get high visibility areas that won’t require that, but that will end up coming out in a report to what can be done long term,” says Uhrig.
Council approved the motion and a report will come back to council on costs.
