The long weekend hasn’t officially started yet and police are already taking suspected drunk drivers off our roads.
Just after midnight this morning police responded to a single vehicle crash on Main Street in Wasaga Beach.
OPP say a rental truck had mounted a median, hit a Community Safety Zone sign, crossed over the roadway and then collided with a light post.
The driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and then the 27 year old Collingwood man was charged with impaired driving.
Also, between July 24 and 26, Huronia West OPP officers charged six separate drivers with impaired drivers.
This long weekend, OPP will be watching for Impaired Driving, Use of Seat Belts, Distracted Driving and Speeding. They will also be enforcing the Move Over Law.
