The new mask by-law in the town of the Blue Mountains is now in effect.
The town says the by-law supports the existing Provincial Order which mandates that a face covering must be worn in all indoor establishments.
The by-law is very similar to the current Provincial Order, however, the town by-law adds the responsibility of wearing a face covering to include the customer or individual entering an indoor space. The provincial law makes it the responsibility of the store owner to make sure people are wearing masks.
The town’s Legal Services Division is responsible for the administration and enforcement of this by-law.
Every person over the age of 12 who contravenes the by-law could be fined $250 to a thousand dollars for a third conviction.
