The REACH Centre Grey Bruce is holding its Fourth Annual Walk Run For REACH fundraiser this weekend.
Executive Director Jennifer Miller says the event on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre will have over 100 people walk or run up to five kilometres to support the REACH Centre.
“We have all kinds of fun stuff planned throughout the day,” says Miller. “We have some players from the Attack that will be coming to lead our warmup, which is pretty cool. We have lots of raffle prizes, all registrants in the race get a ticket and we will have more tickets for sale.”
She adds there will also be a silent auction, which will include various sports memorabilia, artwork, and other donated items from local businesses.
There will also be refreshments.
The REACH Centre aims to raise $50,000 from the event, which will go to support programming for youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“We focus on skill acquisition for independence and what independence looks like is different for every single participant. The funds will go directly into providing those programs for those individuals,” says Miller.
She is hopeful they will meet their goal and applauds the efforts of the participants working hard to collect pledges.
“It’s a pretty awesome event to really celebrate community connection and inclusivity,” says Miller.
