Saugeen Shores Committee of the Whole has tentatively approved its 2021 budget.
The blended tax rate is going up for residential but not for commercial.
Saugeen Shores treasurer Daniel Waechter says the levy is set at a 2% blended tax rate increase, pending the Bruce County tax bylaw.
This represents an $80.41 increase to the average household assessed at $343,891.
The Saugeen Shores Tax Levy is set at just over 17.9-million-dollars, on an operating and capital budget of almost 48-million-dollars.
But there’s some good news for those dealing with the commercial blended tax rate where they’ll see a 3.18% reduction.
Mayor Luke Charbonneau says he’s glad the town can pass on this break to business people who have had a tough year, due to Covid-19.
The final budget approval is expected to take place on March 8 at the Saugeen Shores Council meeting.
