Crews are investigating the cause of a house fire in Owen Sound this afternoon (Thursday).
Fire Chief Phil Eagleson says emergency services responded to the house fire at 20th Street East and 9th Avenue East at about 2 p.m. Thursday. Firefighters arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames, but quickly got the blaze under control.
He says the occupant was able to get out without injury, but some pets are unaccounted for.
Eagleson says the damage is estimated at about $500,000 and homes on either side also had minor damage.
He says the fire started on the outside of the home.
There are multiple road closures approaching the intersection including a closure on 9th avenue just past Duncan McLellan Park.
