Owen Sound’s first Goods Exchange Day of the year is coming up this weekend.
It will be from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday (May 16), when city residents are encouraged to place unwanted but usable items at the curb with a white plastic bag on one item to indicate everything is available.
The effort helps divert usable items and materials from landfills.
This year, city officials also encourage citizens to put out non-invasive plants and flowers out for any gardeners to exchange.
Popular items from previous years are sporting goods, furniture, small appliances, books, art, tools, and construction materials.
Two more Goods Exchange Days are coming to Owen Sound on July 18 and September 19.
