Road construction season is starting in Grey County as over $17 million has been invested into making improvements.
In a release, Grey County says the allocation of funds will not only go into road improvements, but also construction, resurfacing, infrastructure work, bridge rehabilitation, and pothole repairs.
The County confirms the first major project this season is the rehabilitation of Grey Roads 16, 3 and 5, starting on April 26th.
The project also includes Grey Road 16 from Grey Road 10, all the way to just west of the Village of Keady.
Then it will stretch from Grey Road 3 from just north of the Village of Keady, to Grey Road 5 East, and Grey Road 5 from 720 meters west of Grey Road 3 to Grey Road 3.
Some of the other projects starting this season include the rehabilitation of Grey Roads 17 in Georgian Bluffs, Grey Road 40 in the Township of Chatsworth, as well as the start of the intersection upgrades over at Grey Roads 19 and 21 in Blue Mountains.
These projects are following an asset management plan that helps determine which roads need to be invested in each year and the decisions are based on several factors including condition and estimated lifespan.
Be advised, some of these projects will need roads and lanes to be closed, or encounter traffic delays.
A 10-year construction and resurfacing map can be viewed on Grey County’s website.
