Owen Sound council has awarded a contract for the city’s 2021 asphalt resurfacing program.
City council approved a recommendation at its meeting Monday to award the work to Harold Sutherland Construction at a cost of just over $747,000.
A city staff report notes it was the lowest of four compliant bids received.
The tender price is about $128,000 under the approved budget for Owen Sound’s 2021 asphalt resurfacing program. The city plans to hold surplus funds for any other concrete work required this year. Anything unspent at year’s end will remain in reserves.
Owen Sound’s Director of Public Works and Engineering Dennis Kefalas expects the asphalt program will commence in late July or early August. Nearly 3.2 kilometres of roads will be resurfaced this year.
