Grey Bruce’s Medical Officer of Health is hoping the provincial stay-at-home order will be extended past the May 24th holiday weekend.
Dr. Ian Arra was appearing before Bruce County Council on May 6th, when he was asked by councillor and Mayor of Saugeen Shores Luke Charbonneau about the upcoming holiday weekend and the impact of Covid-19.
Charbonneau states several areas are usually visited by cottagers and tourists on the May 24th weekend and residents are concerned.
Dr. Arra says he would like to see the provincially-mandated stay at home order take in the holiday weekend calling it “the most practical solution.”
As it stands now, the edict is in effect until May 20th, the day before the extended weekend begins.
Arra says they’re hoping for the best with the stay at home order but they are prepared for the worst, if it comes to that.
