With the road work on 16th Street East underway, a couple of bus stops along that route will close down for the next three days.
Heidi Jennen, City of Owen Sound Engineering Services Administrator says to accommodate the sidewalk installation, the bus stops at Shoppers Drug Mart (1183 16th St. East) and the Wendy’s on 16th Street East will be closed effective immediately.
This is a result of the road reconstruction project that started on May 3rd, in which crews are working to finish new sidewalks, restore impacted commercial properties next to the construction zone and complete remaining landscape.
The work is expected to be completed within the next four to five weeks and is a continuation of the rehabilitation of 16th Street East between 9th and 16th Avenues East, which started last summer, when watermain replacements, storm sewer improvements and road resurfacing were completed.
To support the funding for this program, the city received over $900,000 through the Connecting Links grant from the Provincial Government.
