Saugeen Shores Plex is going green, at least in the Zamboni department.
On May 25th, council agreed to shell out almost $142,000 for a new 2021 Electric Ice Resurfacer from Zamboni.
Staff conducted an ice resurfacing competitive process through an RFP, and had three bids received.
Although the net cost of Zamboni is marginally higher than Engo, the evaluation matrix scored Zamboni as the preferred option.
Staff is familiar with the product and comfortable transitioning to a new unit as both the Plex and Coliseum will be Zamboni products.
The purchase of a new electric Zamboni will be replacing the existing propane powered unit that will be removed from the fleet inventory.
The existing unit will be sold either in an online auction or trade-in.
