The City of Owen Sound is looking for public input on the quality of life in the area through a new upcoming survey.
A release notes, the city has partnered up with Forum Research Inc. to conduct the survey between July 12 and 30.
Residents 18-years-old and over who are contacted to participate will respond to questions on municipal services and programs, communication strategies, and the perceived value of municipal spending.
The survey will be conducted over the phone through local landlines and cell phones, giving all residents an equal chance to be contacted.
Those who are not called can participate using an online survey.
The confidential survey operates as a way to examine the city’s performance and measure the satisfaction levels with various services, needs, concerns, and priorities, in comparison to the national norm and other comparable municipalities. The survey will be used as a way to build upon any future city surveys.
Owen Sound Mayor Ian Boddy says the survey is the first of its kind for the City.
“Council continues to recognize that it is important to find new ways to engage with the public and find better ways to provide services to our citizens,” says Boddy. “If you get called, please take the time to complete the survey or go online and have your say. The results will help us gain insight and awareness to the evolving needs of the community which will assist Council and staff when formulating decisions for the city.”
The results will be presented to council, and assist them and staff in making strategic decisions in the long-term planning, priority setting, budgeting, and issues management. They will also be placed on the municipal website in the fall of 2021.
