The South Bruce Grey Health Centre (SBGHC) has developed its strategic plan for 2021 to 2025.
A release notes, the new plan will build on the accomplishments made from the 2017 to 2020 strategic plan and sets the organization on its way to establish a future of health care within the region.
SBGHC President and CEO Michael Barrett says the previous plan expired at the end of 2020, and while pandemic response has been their priority, they felt it was also important to continue the development of the plan to ensure the directions of the health centre are clearly identified.
“Engaging with our staff, physicians, patients, families and community stakeholders was a key part of the process to ensure that our plan is reflective of the needs of our communities and the desired culture of our organizations,” says Barrett.
The plan includes engaging with patients and families in decision-making and planning, finding new ways to ensure patients can access as much care as possible close to home, and working with technology and exploring partnerships to maximize care.
Completed through consultations beginning in Oct. 2020, and virtually over the course of the pandemic, SBGHC Board Chair Bill Heikkila says consistent messages about what is valued most about local health care was received in various focus groups of staff, physicians, community stakeholders, and health system partners.
“The plan that has been developed has evolved with each and every conversation that we have had with our stakeholders throughout this process, and is built on the framework of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s quadruple aim for a high performing health system,” says Heikkila.
Barrett adds the vision of the health centre for the coming years is reflecting the importance of the communities and the residents they serve.
With the development of the plan now complete, the full strategic plan including success measures and outcome metrics will be completed this fall.
