The Grey Bruce Health Unit is pushing for second Covid-19 vaccine doses in the region.
In a release, the health unit notes there are still about 27,000 residents needing to get their second shot, and are being encouraged to get it as soon as possible while still adhering to the 28 day period between doses.
Public Health’s goal is to get everyone vaccinate before the end of the month, and says it would make the region one of the first to achieve herd immunity and put a hold on any further spread of the virus.
Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra says they are encouraging anyone who may have a second vaccine appointment for a later date to step up and get the vaccine as soon as they can.
“We have the vaccine available and the clinics to deliver. With everyone’s participation, we can complete the mass immunization campaign by the end of July,” says Dr. Arra.
Shots are made available through daily clinics across the region either by dropping in or by appointment. Walk-in, pop-up and drive-through clinics are being scheduled with the health unit’s partners including EMS, primary care, and pharmacy.
Details on clinic schedules and how to book can be found on their website, with also the provincial portal capable of assigning dates to receive shots.
