The Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band Executive has cancelled its 30th Annual Gathering of the Band Festival due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
A release notes the decision was made in coordination with the Municipality of Kincardine.
Despite the announcement to cancel the weekly Saturday evening Pipe Band Parade made in early June, the organizers remained hopeful the late summer event could still be held.
As the reopening measures continue to progress, it became evident to the pipe band hosting the event for the volunteers and residents was not achievable for this summer season.
President of the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band John McManus says, “out of the interest of public health and safety it is apparent that the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band is unable to host the 30th Annual Gathering of the Bands. We will be open to entertaining other potential venues where we can guarantee the health and safety for all in attendance.”
Kincardine thanks the pipe band for working on these initiatives and appreciate the decision to ensure public safety.
The municipality looking forward to the return of this event and others in 2022.
