West Grey Police say a 28-year-old man has been arrested after a violent domestic assault at the Durham Conservation area campground.
The incident on June 30 left the victim suffering from severe facial injuries after being struck by a weapon and was prevented from seeking medical attention by the accused.
The victim was able to visit the Guelph Medical Centre the next day, where the police were notified.
As a result of a joint investigation with the Guelph Police, the suspect was identified.
On July 18, a Guelph man was apprehended and charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and forcible confinement.
The accused was held for a bail hearing where he was later released on a recognizance bail.
