Georgian Bluffs council has awarded a contract to a consulting firm for an official plan update.
Township council recently approved a tender of close to $40,000 to J.L. Richards and Associates Limited for the work.
It was the lowest of two bids received.
The updated document will serve as a long-term development plan for the area of Georgian Bluffs, focusing on creating economic and sustainable growth.
Ten amendments need to be incorporated into the text as well as updated mapping, and identifying administrative boundaries.
Consultations will be held to review and set new or updated policies for second dwelling units, cannabis, short-term rentals, climate change, Indigenous Peoples, affordable and attainable housing, parkland dedication, development charges, source water protection, and servicing requirements.
The current estimated completion of the updated official plan in Georgian Bluffs will be in the fall of 2022.
