Today is known as Blue Monday. It rolls around every year on the 3rd Monday in January.
It’s supposedly the saddest day of the year.
As many of us are dealing with cold weather, looking at our credit card bills from Christmas and realizing we may have already broken our new year’s resolutions.
So, how do you combat Blue Monday? Here are some ideas:
- Take a walk! Getting some fresh air and exercise is good for your body and your soul. Harrison Park is a great spot for this!
- Watch a funny movie or show. Laughing is a great way to boost your mood.
- Turn up the tunes and dance it out.
- Call a friend or loved one and catch up.
- Do something kind for someone else.
- Write in a diary. It feels good to get your feelings written down & clear mental space.
- Look at old photographs. Nostalgia is powerful and can make you smile.
- Eat something delicous. Either go out or stay in and prepare your favourite meal.
- Get a good nights sleep! Go to bed early, treat yourself to some quality shut eye!
- Look into/sign up for a new hobby or group.
- Practice gratitude. Focus on what you DO have and not what you don’t.
Try to find something to do today, even if it’s something quick, that will bring a smile to your face!
