The Roll up the Rim to Win promotion has been in place since 1986. However, for the last few years there hasn’t been a rim to roll. Instead the rolls and prizes have been distributed throught the App. BUT, not everyone has a smart phone and so many customers have been asking for Timmies to bring back the cups with the rims you roll, and they listened.
Starting February 24th, Hot beverage cups with rims that can be rolled up to reveal a prize will be available.
The company switched the promotion to digital in 2020 as a way of protecting staff. The shift kept staff from having to handle rims gripped and sipped by customers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, winners will simply show the staff member their winning rim before dropping it in a box, this way staff won’t have to touch it at all.
But the return of physical rim rolling won’t kill the digital element of the promotion. Customers will be able to earn “digital rolls” when they buy select hot or cold beverages, breakfast sandwiches, wraps and other lunch and dinner food items. Only hot beverage cups will be able to physically be rolled up, but they’ll come in limited supply.
There will be two prize pools, but both will offer customers the chance to win vacations, vehicles, gift cards, coffees and doughnuts until March 23.
